About Ndigo
Ndigo is a Spiritual Warrior/ Healer, Spoken Word Artist, Percussionist & Entrepreneur.
As a Spoken Word Artist, she recites her poetry, including poems from her self-published book, “Ndigo’s Blues: A Journey of Love, Politics, Self-Awareness and Relationships”. She's in the process of recording her poems and completing her second poetry book. As an Entrepreneur, her poetry, statements and unique designs are printed on pillows, magnets, buttons, bumper stickers and wrapping paper. She’s in the process of expanding to include more products!!
As a Percussionist, she plays congas, djembe, bongos and other hand held percussion instruments. She’s the Founder of The Healing Drum Collective (HDC), an effort to teach women and girls of color ages 12 and up the basic techniques to play drums. Her ultimate goal is to create an army of women drummers across NYC, other states and internationally!! Ndigo is often called to offer libations and joined by members of HDC, they perform at social/cultural events, spiritual ceremonies and rallies.
She recently partnered with Patrice Ejuwa, Founder of the Healing Drumming Circle to offer healing drumming circles and workshops. They seek to use drumming to help women heal who suffer from anxiety or trauma and are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and police abuse. Combined they have 25 drums in their inventory and are willing to travel.
About Ndigo's Gear
Ndigo uses her unique statements and designs to highlight her political, social and cultural beliefs. She aims to make people question their beliefs, think about their behavior and celebrate their existence and connections to each other. She plans to expand her products and translate some of her statements into different languages.
Some of her signature designs include: Black Love is Alive, Love is the Revolution, Sisterhood the Sacred Bond and Have No Fear/Black Man is Here! Proceeds from sales of HDC products, will be used to support the Healing Drum Collective.
